Set up Something in a few deliberate, low-friction steps.

The experience is intentionally simple. Download the app, place it where you want it, open it once through macOS security, and you are ready to go.

Installation checklist

  1. 01Download Something.zip to your Mac.
  2. 02Open the zip and move the Something folder somewhere easy to reach, such as your Desktop.
  3. 03Open Something and keep the app in place so future updates are easy to replace.
  4. 04If macOS warns that the developer cannot be verified, right-click Something.app and choose Open once.

macOS security note

Because Something is distributed outside the App Store, macOS may show a verification warning the first time you launch it. This is expected for independent apps.

  • 01Right-click Something.app.
  • 02Select Open from the menu.
  • 03Confirm by clicking Open again.

First launch

The first open on macOS may require the standard right-click and Open flow because Something is distributed independently.

Update routine

Future updates are simple: download the latest zip and replace the existing Something folder with the new version.
